Discover Magazine has in interesting interview with Nobel laureate Gerald Edelman in their Feb. 2009 on line issue.  Dr. Edelman talks about what really distinguishes one individual from another in terms of our seemingly unique ability to reflect upon ourselves, our consciousness, the biology underlying our at least 30 billion neurons in the cortex alone, and how our intelligence and self awareness evolved.  Click Here to see the interview.
