Recent investigation has revealed that the synthetic version of Resveratrol that Sirtris developed and is now the property of Glaxo may be worthless. While the Sirtris compounds looked like activators initially, it now appears from screens done by Pfizer that the synthetic analog may not be as effective as natural resveratrol.
Pfizer researchers, who screened the Sirtris compound, claim that the reported Sirtris compounds do not do what they are claimed to do, neither in vitro nor in vivo, and are worthless as model compounds for anything in this area of study unlike natural resveratrol which has been shown to definitely activate Sirtuins.
